"Sneaker Of The Year?" More like the worst drop of the year.
The SNKRS release for the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG 'Dark Mocha' was almost as bad as SNKRS Day back in August: and that entire day was catastrophic.
Who knows what's happening over at Nike, but something isn't clicking. A similar issue identified with gendered sneakers is the lack of inclusive sizing, this sneaker release wasn't "problematic" in that sense, but although a full-size run was advertised, from a UK 4-15 this wasn't the case. People flocked to Twitter to rant and complain about the sizes that weren't in the release: these included a UK 5.5, UK 6, UK 6.5, UK 8. Some larger half sizes weren't available either, which isn't okay but expected.
The omission of some sizes reinforces the feeling of feeling excluded. As "dramatic" as that sounds, that's the reality for people that didn't stand a chance because their size wasn't available from the jump. Considering that the EU release for this Air Jordan 1 has been delayed multiple times, from October to November to then finally drop in December in this manner is something many can't wrap their heads around. Nike and Jordan are you not embarazzed?
The more the release date got pushed back, the more anticipation and interest grew. But both turned out to be a waste of time if your size wasn't an option this morning. Who knows what excuse Nike probably won't come up with, but many will speculate.
Did all of the omitted sizes sell out with exclusive access on November 20th? Why was there no Grade School option? Nike had months to roll out a straightforward release but unfortunately disappointed for one of the most anticipated releases this year.
Resellers aren't always an option, because who wants to or can afford to pay double the price for sneakers? Not many. On another note, someone needs to sort out these bots, because they're just as bad.
However, if you're still interested in copping the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG 'Dark Mocha' the END raffle is open and closes on Saturday, December 26th so, you're still in with a chance.
