5 Sneaker & Streetwear Rules Everyone Should Follow

Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.

Here's something to set the mood: DMX - Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer

These are five basic rules that have been violated, one too many times. You might not agree with everything, but take these five simple rules with a pinch of salt.

1. Stop mixing Adidas with Nike

This is pretty much, self explanatory. You can have a fire fit with some wavy Nikes, but if you're rocking Adidas track pants with them (or vice versa) that outfit goes from a solid 8 or 9 to a 1. It never looks good, no matter how hard you may try to convince us.

2. Work with accents

We can't stress this enough, if you're familiar with our Crep Checks, under the Fashion section we always talk about accents. Leave those ridiculous head to toe colour co-ordinated outfits in 2018, they shouldn't have made it this far, but alas, the agenda flew.

3. Keep white sneakers white

This is specific to Nike Air Force 1s. Whew chilee, some Air Forces we've seen look like they've been through the World War II and a tornado. The Time Stone couldn't even save them, no matter how hard you try. If you're looking for any tips on how to look after your sneakers, check out our Sneakers: Aftercare 101 post, for everything you need to know.

4. Be adventurous - step outside of your comfort zone

Everyone loves to stay in a comfortable bubble, stick with the same dark colours for sneakers and clothes - black, blues, greys & whites. But it's always good to explore with more colours, after all there are seven colours in the rainbow with plenty of additional tones. With spring approaching, stock up on those pastel pinks, lilacs, light blues and greens. Whether that's in the form of sneakers, jackets or t-shirts. You never know what you'll like, until you try.

5. Don't go logo crazy

Big and multiple logos don't look good when thrown together in a single outfit. In one of our earlier Crep Talks - How To: Streetwear & Street Style, we mentioned to choose one or two brands to focus your outfits on, for example Champion & Nike, Supreme & Balenciaga. Obviously not everyone reading this is gonna have a massive collection of designer garms, so just work with what you have.

This is of course our last post of a sneaker filled year, and we hope it helps you put things into perspective or the new year. Step out of your comfort zone, buy fresh cocaine white Air Forces and throw away those beaters.
