For our second Crep Check of the year, we have the highly anticipated VaporMax in the Triple Noir colorway. One of the most sought after sneakers since news of it's release date. Nike have ventured into a new dimension with the design of the sneaker, like none before it. This sneaker gives us a glimpse of what we can expect from Nike for 2018 and hopefully many years to come. Has the premium pricing stolen the show or are people still buying the VaporMax? If you're in two minds about buying this sneaker, give this a read before making your final decision.
The first feature that captures your attention is of course, the air cushioning on the sole, intricate detailing from heel to toe, that increases all around comfortability. The combination between the air cushioning and flyknit material gives the sneaker an overall clean finish and pleasant contrasting look. Let’s not forget the minimalist and simplicity of the lacing, as well as the 3M reflective Nike tick, a feature that’s beginning to be a must have on all sneakers.
This is a tricky one for us, because the sneakers is great. But, the overall finish should be better for the price you pay. On some VaporMax you’ll find glue in places that it shouldn’t be, such as above the Nike tick and around the perimeter of the sneaker giving it a messy look. A simple solution to this could be using clear invisible glue or glue that won’t leave behind specks and spots in unwanted places. Or even accommodate the design so that glue doesn’t appear in unnecessary places. Aside from that issue, depending on how big or small of a factor you find the price to be, it is justified. However, if you’re still not convinced the Nike Flyknit Racer is a cheaper alternative.
True to size, Nike executed the sizing of this sneaker perfectly. It fits like a glove and is extremely lightweight, producing a barely there feel, aside from the feel of the air cushioning working for every step. Which takes the comfortability and durability to another level, throw on a pair of these and you’ll feel as though you’re walking on clouds, if that’s something you want these are a shout! The first wear takes a few minutes at most of adjusting to, but, apart from that there’s nothing to worry too much about.
For any gym goers, runners, joggers, generally people who like to run, we wouldn’t recommend these for such activities. The air cushioning is great for walking, but, when you increase your speed as well as the force of the impact it seems as though you lose all senses of control and the stability of the VaporMax decreases quite a bit.
As always this a bootcut free zone, so don’t bother. The VaporMax is a guaranteed eye-catcher, regardless of what you wear they will be centre stage. Below you can find a basic round up of items that can create an outfit, but, be sure to add your personal sense of style to it.
